Obituary

Richard A. Woodley, 93, of Brazil passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on June 19, 1933, in Valparaiso, Indiana to Louis Woodley and Louise Balmes Woodley. Richard attended and graduated from Jeff High School in Lafayette, Indiana where in 1950 he was the State Wrestling Champion at 155 lbs. and in 1951 helped to take the Football Team to the State Championship. After High School he joined the United States Air Force and from 1951-1955 he was a Gunner on a B-26 in the Korean War completing 43 missions. After returning home he married Eleanor Carol Lemieux and they had three children. Richard and Eleanor were married for 56 years.

Richard went on to receive his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and worked as the Director of Environmental Engineering for Commercial Solvents. Later in his life he enjoyed the simple things in life like being outside and tending to his property in Clay County. He will be sadly missed by his beloved family.

Richard is survived by his children Donald Frank Woodley (Angela), Jacqueline Woodley Taylor, and Richard G. Woodley (Terri), grandchildren Jamison Woodley, Christian Woodley, Corey Taylor, Dustin Taylor, and Ellie LeClercq, great grandchildren Journee Woodley, Rebeka Woodley, William Woodley, Jayce Taylor, Devin Taylor, Myles Taylor, Tate Cook, Ray LeClercq, and Meadow LeClercq, and great great grandchildren Isaiah Taylor and Navy Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and five siblings.
