Rita Jean Walker, 76, passed away Wednesday May 5, 2021 at her home in Terre Haute. She was born November 18, 1944 to Stephen and Ideal (Harris) Simpson.

Rita was a lovely woman that enjoyed telling stories to her family, which was the light of her enjoyment. Rita was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her friends, family, and the neighborhood boys.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Ideal (Harris) Simpson, her lovely husband of 42 years James Edward (aka Pops Ed), Niel Walker (son), Christopher Walker (grandson), and Melissa VanNess(special daughter-in-love).

Rita is survived by her daughter Susan New-Fort (Eric), grandsons Michael Maxwell II, Joshua Maxwell, Daniel Maxwell, and Jonathan Walker (JoJo), sister Helen Simpson, brother James(Jimmy) Simpson, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation  will be Saturday May 8, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral home with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home.
