Robert Edward Smith, 60, a lifelong West Terre Haute resident, passed away on October 17, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.

Born on September 7, 1966, to Roberta and Virgil Smith, Robert was the devoted husband of Teresa Smith for 25 years. He loved bass fishing, spending time outdoors, and cherished his beloved baby girl, T.Q.

Robert is survived by his wife, Teresa Smith; his brother, Jim Smith; stepchildren, Aileah Schatz and Evan Schatz; his mother, Roberta Smith; aunt, Loretta Scott; cousins, Shawn Scott and wife Jenny, Leroy Scott, Larry and Donna Huff, Michael Huff, and Rick Huff; aunt, Judy Huff; his best friend, John Young; and many relatives in Dresser and Sullivan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Smith; his grandmother, Naomi Huff; his uncle, Steve Huff; and his cousin, Carmen Huff.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care and support and offer special thanks to Becky Furlong, whose friendship, kindness, and support brought comfort to both Robert and Teresa during his illness.

There will be no visitation.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
