Ronald Eugene
Dixon
Oct 29, 1949 — Jun 16, 2026
Ronald Eugene Dixon was born on October 29, 1949, and passed away quietly at his home on June 15, 2026, at the age of 76. He was the second oldest of eleven children born to Allen and Lexia Dixon. He attended Gerstmeyer Technical High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, and later completed college coursework at Indiana State University before entering the workforce. Ronnie was a hard worker throughout his life, holding various factory positions and most recently working with Maker’s Pride. He also graduated from Danville Community College in Danville, Illinois, with a degree in Culinary Arts.
Ronnie grew up in a large, loving family and developed a lifelong love for sports, excelling in baseball and football. As a young athlete, he played on a Little League baseball team that advanced all the way to the World Championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, missing the final championship by one game.
Ronnie’s work ethic began early in life. His siblings fondly remember him as a child working from early morning until dusk when challenged to earn money by raking leaves or shoveling snow. That same determination carried into adulthood. One favorite memory was his quest to recreate the original KFC recipe so he could sell the best fried chicken around. Before long, Ronnie was frying chicken for people in the community using his newly acquired recipe, and there were regularly lines of people waiting to buy Ronnie’s famous chicken — a reflection of his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for cooking, and his joy in serving others.
Ronnie was known for his sharp sense of style. He loved suits, and even on Sundays when he wasn’t going to church, he looked like he was. He was also an excellent cook, taking pride in preparing delicious meals and sharing them generously with his family. He was an avid family historian, always eager to share stories and preserve the legacy of those who came before him.
Though he never sought the spotlight, Ronnie had a quiet, steady way of making a difference in other people’s lives. He helped without being asked, gave without expecting anything in return, and carried himself with humility and kindness.
Most importantly, Ronnie confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior. He loved watching good preaching, and some of his favorites included Bishop G.E. Patterson and Jimmy Swaggart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings — Allen Dixon Jr. ( Carol – deceased), James Dixon ( Debbie), Michael Dixon, Verna Dixon, Pamela Blade (husband Michael), Anthony Dixon (wife Shazell), George Dixon, Cynthia Dixon Antrim ( John), and Robert Dixon. He also
leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Lexia Dixon, and his brothers Donald Dixon and Joseph Dixon.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 at Samaritan Funeral Home located at 2425 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m.
