Obituary

Ruthe A. Hensley, 75, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2026, surrounded by love. Born on January 28, 1951, to Rosemary Mann and Arthur Hensley, Ruthe lived a life filled with laughter, strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.

Ruthe dedicated many years of her life to Union Hospital, where she proudly served as the Director of the Switchboard before ultimately retiring. She took great pride in her work and in the many accomplishments she achieved throughout her career.

She was a sassy, fun-loving woman with a remarkable sense of humor who could make anyone laugh, even on the hardest days. Ruthe had a generous heart and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She was a fighter until the very end, facing life with resilience and determination.

Ruthe found joy in the simple things she loved most: watching the Food Network, crocheting treasured gifts for her family, and spending hours playing games on her computer. Though she never had biological children of her own, all of her nieces and nephews were her babies, and she loved them fiercely.

She shared an especially close bond with her niece, Kayla Burnette and husband Ian, and with Aireyonna Reynosa and Levi Dunn, who loved her as a mother and grandmother in every way that mattered. Kayla remained faithfully by Ruthe’s side until the very end, a reflection of the deep love and bond they shared throughout their lives.

She is survived by Kayla Burnette and Ian; Aireyonna Reynosa and Levi Dunn; Kallye Gleason; Kyle Gleason and Ashley, along with their children Ryder, Kaytlynn, James, and Heather; Long time friend Stephen Gleason; As well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones whose lives she touched deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vickie; her brother, Frank; her niece, Heather; and her nephew, John.

In accordance with her wishes, Ruthe will be cremated and no services will be held.

Her laughter, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
