Sharon Rose (Coy) Melvin, 83, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Terre Haute. She is now walking hand in hand with her eternal soulmate and the love of her life, Frederick Lee Melvin, who passed in 2006. May heavenly love, peace and eternal happiness embrace them both.
Sharon was born on January 22, 1942, in Terre Haute, IN to James A. and Mary C. (Schmoel) Coy. She was a lifelong resident of Terre Haute.
Sharon was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved animals and birds, was an avid reader, master seamstress and loved to sing. She worked at Cloth World and was a partner in the family business.
Sharon is survived by her beloved son David S. Melvin, grandson Xavier, spiritual daughter Kathy Kamp, brother Jerry Coy, sister Carla (Lincoln) Coy, many nieces and nephews, and her cat Jaxx.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Fred "Freddy Bear", beloved daughter Mary Kennedy, brothers Jimmy and Mike Coy, close cousin Jerry McCarthy, and daughter-in-law Kathy (Brower) Melvin.
Sharon will truly be missed by many and was truly a great soul.
A visitation will be held on Friday May 16, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am at Samaritan Funeral Home, with a service starting at 11 am.
A joint burial for Fred and Sharon will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery, with military honors for Fred.
