Stanley W. Smitley, 67, of rural Jasonville, passed away Wednesday July 15, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Stanley was born August 29, 1952 in Terre Haute to George and Georgia (England) Smitley. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis (Sanders) Smitley; sons, Roy A. Smitley, Brenton Smitley (Heather), and Daniel Smitley (Brandy); sister, Linda Phillips (Lucky); grandchildren, Emily, Katlyn, Felicia, and Gage and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vicki. Stanley was a Veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War and also served in the Illinois Army National Guard and the Indiana Air National Guard where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal while overseas. Stan liked to be outdoors and enjoyed talking politics and about firearms. No services are scheduled. Samaritan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
