Obituary

Susan Rae Davis (née Uzzell), 59, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on August 23, 2024.   Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.   Monetary contributions may be made to P.I.N.K. of Terre Haute, an organization dedicated to supporting those battling breast cancer.


Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Northside Church of Christ, 1356 Fifth Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana 47807.   Flowers may be sent to the church building on the day of service.


Born on November 20, 1964, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Mary Uzzell. Susan was a beloved wife to her late husband, Christopher Davis.  She is survived by her sisters, Bonnie L Uzzell, Phyllis Uzzell-Mills, Karla E Uzzell, Greta L Uzzell; brothers, Willis L Uzzell, III, Jeffrey H Uzzell, Charles R Uzzell, Sr; nephews, Willis Uzzell IV, Jeffrey Uzzell, Jr, Justin Stewart, Charles Uzzell Jr; nieces, Courtney Mills, Monet Gray, Brittney Uzzell-Ellington, Sydney Uzzell, Erin Mazique, Lauren Mazique, Jaimie Sandifer, Cierra Lara, Chelcie Uzzell; and a host of great-nephews and nieces, as well as cousins.


Susan graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School and earned a Master's Degree in Health & Safety Management from Indiana State University. Her career was marked by dedication and excellence in the field of health and safety, having worked at notable companies such as Hearthside Food Solutions, ANSC, JM Smucker, Howmet, Avery Dennison, Indiana Michigan Power Company, and The Pillsbury Company. In 1995, she founded Diamond Safety Group, a consulting company. Susan also imparted her knowledge as an Adjunct Instructor at Cuyahoga Community College, teaching OSHA classes.


Beyond her professional life, Susan was deeply committed to her community, serving as President of 4K Programs in Cleveland, Ohio, from 2014 to 2015. She was a faithful member of Southside Church of Christ in Terre Haute, Indiana.


Susan's passions included cooking, singing, and engaging in fellowship. She often hosted gatherings at her home, bringing together family and friends for food, fun, and games. As an entrepreneur, Susan owned and operated a food stand, which she named Alley Dogs.  A lover of gospel music, she sang in several choral groups and was a part of the group H.I.S (Harmony in Sisters), performing at various church programs across the Midwest.
