Vernon Gail Matlock, 76, of Terre Haute passed away September 24, 2019.  He was born on August 3, 1943 to Charles and Anna "Maynard" Matlock.  Vern is preceded in death by both parents; his wife Betty; as well as several brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his daughters Pamela and her fiancé Kyle Vinardi, Gala Thurston and husband Paul, Christina, Teresa Cordell and husband Lonny, Michelle and her fiancé Bill Smith; Grandchildren George reedy Jr and wife Nicole, Nathan Reedy, Joseph Reedy, Robert Long and wife Desi, Brandie Matlock and fiancé Daniel, Daphanie Long, Brooklynn Altheide, and Emily Smith; Great-grandchildren Blake Reedy, Cheyenne Reedy, Brevin Reedy, Ronan Reedy, Bolton Reedy, Ely Friede, Ethan Maxwell, Tyler Long, Lynnlee Yocum, Kiana Long, and Aeriana Long; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Vern was the last remaining child in his family.  He enjoyed playing poker and camping.  He also liked to watch Racing, Wrestling, and football. Vern also did a little racing himself at the Dragstrip.  Visitation for Vern will be held on Saturday, September 28 at Samaritan Funeral Home from 11:00-1:00 with services starting at 1:00 PM.  Burial at Black Cemetery will follow.  On line condolences may be left at Samaratinfunerals.com
