Sunday May 23, 2021 Violet Louise Jones received her wings and rejoined her heavenly family. Violet Louise Jones was born to Nathaniel and Ruthie Allen-Porter on February 9th, 1945. Violet Louise Jones gave her life to Christ at a very early age, she was baptized at the Mount Pilgrim Church in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Violet Louise was a faithful member of Mount Pilgrim where she served in the choir and spent many hours helping the church with fund raising. She worked at CBS for much of her career and had many side jobs to provide for her six children. Violet Louise was a widower to Herbert Jones.
Violet Louise attended Gerstmeryer Technical High School in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Violet Louise was proceeded in death by sisters, Mary Porter -Suggs, Docial Porter-Wimberly, Saint Ella Marie Porter-Vance and brothers, Albert N. Porter, Dallas D. Porter, Michael A. Porter. Beautiful and Loving Daughter, Dwuanna Lynn Jones Gardner.
Violet Louise leaves to cherish her memory: five boys Dwayne Porter, Kendell Porter, Craig Porter and Todd (Donya) and Trent (Melanie) Jones. She has 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and eight great-great children. Sisters Patricia A. Porter (Michael) Morman, and Annie Ruth Dixon; brothers Rev. Franklin (Jessie) Porter, Chauncey Porter, Larry (Margistine) Porter, Rev. James (Allen) Porter, Leon Porter, George (Crystal) Eddy, Wayne Porter. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Violet Louise was close to all her family members and loved all in their own special way.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Allen Chapel AME located at 218 Crawford Street, Terre Haute. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor John A. (Tony) McGhee Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
