Virginia "Lynn"
Pettis
April 5, 1957 – April 17, 2026
Virginia “Lynn” Pettis, 69, entered the gates of Heaven and was reunited with loved ones on April 17, 2026.
Lynn was born in Jackson, Mississippi on April 5, 1957, to Junious Leon Pettis and Verna Lou Pettis (Strickland). She graduated from Pearl High School in 1975. After graduation, she married Neil Larson, and they set out on the greatest adventure of their lives when Neil joined the United States Navy. Lynn and Neil were married for 25 years and spent 21 of those years as a Navy family, living in Illinois (three times), Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida. Together, they raised two children, Edward and Loraine.
The whole family was very active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts while the children were growing up. Lynn served as a leader in both organizations over the years, helping guide and support many young lives. They shared countless family adventures, both with scouting and on their own.
Lynn loved her family, near and far, and was deeply loved in return. She made friends easily, and those friendships quickly turned into lasting bonds. Her family and friends will carry her love with them always.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Verna; her stepfather, W.C.; her sisters, Waylen Harrison, Sharon Stevens, and Annette Pettis; her great-niece, Brooklyn Steinwinder; and extended family she continued to hold dear, including her former parents-in-law, Charles and Bernice Larson; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Larson Garrett and Mary Larson Cline; nephew, Herbie Kruggel; niece, Lisa Cline Elia; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her children, Edward (Melodie) Larson and Loraine Larson; her grandchildren, Joshua, Madalynn, Alexander, Coralynn, Owen, Charlotte, and Emma; and her great-grandchildren, Myles, Dallas, and Oaklynn. She is also survived by her nieces, Lori and Paige; her nephews, Bubba, Ryan, and Chris; her great-nieces, Ashley, Amy, Haley, and Tiffany; her great-nephew, Jody; several great-great-nieces; former brother-in-law, Charles Larson; former sister-in-law, Kimberly (Bobby) Heard; and former nieces and nephews, Debra, Kristina, Morgan, Scott, and Derrick; along with many beloved cousins and extended family members.
In faith and comfort, we remember the words of Jesus: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” — John 11:25–26
