William Gerhart Chappell, 66, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. He was born to Charles Lloyd Chappell, Sr. and Dorothy Louise (Halliburton) Chappell on October 20, 1959 in Terre Haute. William studied many things at Indiana State University - drafting, archaeology, anthropology, geology, and geography. He worked at TRW in Marshall, Illinois for many years before retiring.

William is preceded in death by both of his parents and brother, Charles Lloyd Chappell, Jr. 

William is survived by his son, Jared Lee Tiefel (Ashley Quintaine); brother, Rick Chappell; sister, Crystal Tyra Treadway; and five grandchildren.

Because there was no life insurance in place, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the funeral home to help offset the service costs.
