Alta Lois Lawson, age 93, of Clay City IN, went on to her eternal home to be with her husband and the Lord on May 13, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 22, 1931, to the late Malcolm and Edith (Mamie) Price.

Alta was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl Lawson; her son Carl Jr. Lawson, Granddaughter Alainee Elmore and great grandson Rocky Lake.

Alta is survived by her daughters Diana Hayes of Fort Wayne, Karen Gilbert of Clay City, and son Russell (Lynn) Lawson of Texarkana, AR, along with her sisters LaDonna Briton, Cathy Simmons, brothers Ronnie Price and John Price. She has 11 Grandkids: Larry Rutledge, Kerrie Coe, Alice Elmore, Leslee Elliott, Laurie Hammond, Kimberly Lawson, Michael Bach, Laurissa Shields, Davina Meneely, Shadrach Lawson, Carl Jr. (Buddy) Lawson. 15 Great Grand kids; Kayla, Alandria, Kole, Kirsi, Eva, Kyle, Austin, Kennedie, Hunter, Mackenzie, Leah, Londyn, Madelyn, Riley, Zoe, Ava,and Johnathon. 3 Great Great Grandkids Sarah Rose, Shadrach, and baby Spraggins. 

Alta was a devout member of First Apostolic Church of Worthington, IN. She was a homemaker for many years, but she also enjoyed working for Donnely's, The Apple House, and Cowan & Cook Florist. She loved her family, kids, telling stories, gardening, flowers and birds. 

She spent her last 13 years living with her daughter Karen in Clay City. Her family and living for the Lord were the most important things in life to her. Alta will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Samaritan Funeral Home from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home with Pastor Gene Smith officiating. Burial will be private.
