Bernard I. Monaghan, 98, of West Terre Haute passed away Monday November 22, 2021 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice. He retired from General Housewares in 1990 as a machinist. He was born April 4, 1923 in West Terre Haute to Michael and Ruth (Allen) Monaghan. Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Donna Monaghan; daughters, Sue Ann Dickson (Joe) and Mary Jo Harmon (Curtis); son, Stephen E. Monaghan; grandchildren, Ryan Edward Monaghan, Stephen Michael Monaghan, Brad Harmon, Shannon Baldwin, Heather Stone, and Gary Snider; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Dammann and Rosa May Birch and brothers, John Monaghan, Joseph Monaghan, Patrick Monaghan, and Leonard Monaghan. Bernard was a veteran of the US Air Force during World War II. He was also a member of the Lawton-Byrum Post #972 VFW. He attended St. Leonard Catholic Church in West Terre Haute until is closed then he attended St. Benedict Catholic Church in Terre Haute. Visitation will be Saturday November 27, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery with funeral services at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
