Billy Lee Doan, 72, of Jasonville, Indiana, changed his address to Heaven to be with his heavenly father on October 31, 2020 at his former address surrounded by his loving family and friends. Bill was born June 22, 1947 in Clinton, Indiana to Myrtle Nadine Doan.
Bill served in the United States Army and was stationed in Viet Nam. Bill was an avid fisherman. He was known to tell anyone the best fishing spots in a four-county area. He had belonged to the Shakamak Bass Club for many years and fished many tournaments. He was even approached by a local TV station to host a fishing show. Bill also like to bowl and mushroom hunt. He taught all of his kids to bowl, as well as fish.
His daughter and grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Billie and Brooklynn were his princesses and Eli was his fishing buddy, although he taught the girls to fish as well. He loved watching baseball, especially the Cubs and the Cardinals.
Bill was also a welder and worked in a coal mine as a young man. He was a truck driver for Gibson Coal Company until retirement.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debbie Doan, his daughter, Billie Mason of Linton, his grandchildren Brooklynn and Eli Padgett of Jasonville, Kade Burns of Linton, sisters Joyce Hawkins of Greenwood, South Carolina, Betty Pound of Plainfield, Indiana, a brother Bob (Carolyn) of Ormond Beach, Florida, half-sister, Vicki Jones of Colorado, Heather Van Horn, who has been a loving part of his family for 36 years, stepsons Jeff Cottrell (Jeanne) of Coatesville, Indiana, Donnie O’Neal, Michael O’Neal and Tim Flood all of Plainfield, Indiana. His step-grandchildren are: Shawna Avenatti, Austin O’Neal, Dalton O’Neal, Lindsey Cottrell, Lance Cottrell, and Loren Cottrell as well as several great step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in an address change by his mother, his son, Jonathon Andrew Doan, brother-in-law’s Jim Pound, Bobby Keller, and Harold Hawkins.
Bill’s new resting place will now be at Peavey Cemetery. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com
