David Bik, 65, of Terre Haute, Indiana, died from cancer Monday, July 19, 2021, at his home surrounded by loving family.
He was born June 9, 1956, in Peabody, Massachusetts. Son of Peter and Filene Bik, David was a resident of the North Shore for 57 years. He most recently resided in Terre Haute, Indiana with his wife, Enola Holmberg Bik.
He was the maintenance lead overseeing buildings for a local newspaper, and most recently road supervisor for Community Corrections. In each of his roles he was the person to turn to when you needed something done.
David enjoyed life and loved people. He was genuinely a nice guy who had a huge heart. He loved fishing, movies, going to the beach, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
He is remembered with love by his daughters, Brenda Bik of Gloucester, MA; Lynda Delano of Middleboro, MA; stepdaughter, Sydney Holmberg Shahar (Asaf) of Terre Haute, IN; stepson, Evan Holmberg of Terre Haute, IN; five grandchildren, Maddison Belo, Menileke Dunwell Jr., Sarai Dunwell, Carter Shahar, and Aviva Shahar; three brothers, Louis (Maureen) Bik of Peabody, MA; Ronald Bik of Middletown, MA; and Michael (Angela) Bik of Amesbury, MA; in-laws Norman Savant (Susan); Susan Bell (Jim); as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
For the last 26 years David was a friend of Bill’s. He was forever grateful for the support he received particularly from his dear friend Peter Kilhouley III whom he loved dearly, and he was generous in paying that gratitude forward by supporting others.
A celebration of life service is being planned for family and close friends to be held at a later date in Salem, Massachusetts.
Material contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
