Denise Elizabeth Weatherholt, 64, lost her fight against dementia in her home Thursday, October 15, 2020, surrounded by loving family members, including her children and grandchildren. She lived in Terre Haute, Indiana for the end of her life, despite growing up mainly in Evansville, Indiana, where she was born to late parents Edna and Paul Kathary. She graduated with the class of 1974 from Central High School in Evansville, Indiana. She gave birth to two loving children, Aaron Shapuras and Jenifer Pollom, before marrying the late Max Weatherholt and adopting Codi Willoughby. She was a kind, loving person who was always there for people who needed her. For most of her life, she worked as an account receivable at North American Green, however, her passion came mostly for high heeled shoes, and dancing the night away. Raised Catholic, Denise found comfort in her last rights being performed October 13, 2020.
She was proceeded in death her parents, Edna and Paul Kathary, her brother Jim Kathary and his wife Shelda, as well as her devoted husband Max Weatherholt. She is survived by her children, Aaron Shapuras, Jenifer Pollom (Mathew), and Codi Willoughby (Kathryn). Denise was also a loving grandmother to Keelyn Shapuras, Kiara Shapuras, Elizabeth Pollom, Olivia Pollom, Benjamin Pollom, and Emma Willoughby, who all adoringly called her ‘Mamaw.’ She is also survived by siblings Lois Weenink (Don), Bruce Kathary (Linda), Elaine Kathary, Paulette Laughman (Ron), Patricia Schultz (Scott), Dianne Fielder (Steve), Sharon Nelson (Jim-deceased), and Jonathan Kathary.
Services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Hungarian Hall (2049 N 22nd St, Terre Haute, IN 47804). From 2-5 visitors are welcome to pay their respects, and from 5-8, there will be a celebration of life, where dinner and refreshments are offered.
