Ellen Denise Phegley, age 56 passed away unexpectedly in her home in Sullivan, IN on March 26th, 2023.Ellen was born February 21, 1967 in Bloomington and grew up in Odon, Indiana. She loved her children, grandchildren and family more than anything. She loved being around friends and family and knew how to have a good time! Anyone who spent time with her was sure to laugh and smile around her. She loved playing softball and watching her children grow up playing baseball and softball. Ellen loved hard and anyone who is lucky enough to have felt her love, knows it.
Ellen is survived by a large family who will miss her dearly. Her mother Sharon (Charles) Harper of Newburgh and her sons Marcus Hile and Zachary Hile. Ellen’s father Larry (Kathy) Barber of Bloomington. She was the loving mother of four children who survive her. Three sons and one daughter, Christopher (Danielle) Smith of Bluffton, Brock (Jennie) Smith of Zanesville, Samantha (Matthew) Cox of Pleasantville, and Jake (Kendra) Phegley of Tampa, Florida. Ellen was the oldest sister of Angel Patton of Bloomington and David Barber of Kankakee, IL. Ellen loved spoiling her 10 grandchildren: Trevor and Kenley Smith (Christopher). Jordyn Shroyer and Breck Smith (Brock). Dalton Thompson, Paxton Cox, Mattox Cox, Nolan Cox, and expected granddaughter Milli Denise (Samantha). Layla and Penelope Phegley (Jake). Ellen is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jade Smith. Her grandparents Betty Jo Phillips, Alave Phillips, William Barber, Robert Correll and Betty Correll. Her uncles Steve Phillips, Frank Phillips, and Bobby-Jo Correll.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 1st, 2023 from 12-4 pm at the VFW Post 9627 in her hometown Odon, IN. 212 E Elnora St Odon, IN.
Her family welcomes all her friends and loved ones to come share their best memories, laughs, and pictures with them during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help cover expenses.
