Obituary

Gary A. Atkinson, Jr. passed peacefully surrounded by his family on June 14th, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born September 18th,1973 in Clay County Indiana to Gary A. Atkinson, Sr., and Etta Mae (Batchelor) Purtell.

Gary was preceded in death by his stepfather of 25 years, Martin Purtell. Gary was survived by his loving wife and constant friend of 26 years, Pamela Atkinson, his three children Gary the third, Lynsey, and Elijah, three sisters Camela, Amanda, and Felicia, two brothers Nicholas, and Robert, stepmother Deanna, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Gary enjoyed being at home surrounded by his friends and family watching cartoons and sharing his love for collecting things. His collections were endless from the Harley that sat in his living room to the figurines he loved to share his latest treasures. Gary’s humor was his light; he could work a room and make sure everyone was laughing for hours. He had a way to make you smile.

Per Gary's wishes, cremation service will be handled by Samaritan Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday June 26th, 2022, at Craig Park in Brazil, Indiana.
