Gary Mark Burgess, 70, passed away on October 8, 2025. He was born on March 24, 1955 in Adelaide, Australia. In Gary’s early life, he worked in the hotel and motel business for many years. Later, he worked at a printing company. In 2001, he moved to Terre Haute, and he worked for Dreamland Homes of Illiana. From 2006 to 2020, he worked as a field training officer for the Putnamville Correctional Facility where he earned employee of the year in 2017.

He is survived by his sons Tom Burgess and Lincoln Burgess, brother Tony Burgess, sister Vickie Challen, nephews Matthew and Ryan, and niece Jessie. He is also survived by his ex-wife Candace “Candy” Chaney Burgess, her two adult children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on November 1, 2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Bainbridge Community Building (located at 201 N Grant Ave, Bainbridge, IN 46105).
