James Moskalick, passed peacefully at age 76 on October 30, 2025 in his home in Quincy, Indiana.  Jim was born June 18, 1949 in East Chicago.  He was raised in Whiting, Indiana alongside his ten siblings by his late parents Edward A. & Justine J. Moskalick (nee Sporinsky). Jim graduated from Whiting Highschool in 1967 and began his lifelong trade at Inland Steel where he became a Journeyman Machinist in 1971.  He then began his family and raised his children, Patricia Ann (Schutz), Richard Edward (Nov 3,1972 – Apr 14, 1997), Mary Therese (Apr 21-May 3, 1975), Susan Marie (Szydlowski) and James Peter in Hammond, Indiana. Jim retired from B&C Machining in Griffith as a Master Machinist and mentor. He was fortunate to spend his final retirement years with a view of big sky, colorful tree lines & vast fields while enjoying farm life with his son and family on Moskalick Farm in Quincy.

Jim was a dad determined to allow you to learn and grow your own wisdom through experience while leaving the lights on and doors open.  He was a faithful fishing companion, the guy that still read the newspaper with a black coffee in hand and completed the crossword puzzle, the grandpa with a pocketful of change and drawer full of treats. From nightcrawler hunting as a boy, homing pet reptiles that needed a haven, arriving within minutes notice to witness the miracle of birth on the farm, and morning chats with a donkey, Jim appreciated God’s creatures big and small.

His words were few, yet intentional and will echo for years to come. He left his mark on hearts of friends, neighbors, and strangers alike, and will be missed by his sisters, brothers, cousins, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Most importantly, Jim, had quiet, yet strong faith that guided him home without fear. 

Entrusted to Samaritan Funeral & Cremation Services to Rest in Eternal Peace, a Memorial Mass for James Moskalick will be offered by Father Jay Nuthulapati on Monday, Nov 17, 2025 at 10 AM CST at Sacred Heart Church 1731 La Porte Ave, Whiting, IN.
