Jeffrey Lee Dickerson, 74, succumbed to several ailments on Monday May 19, 2025, in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union Hospital. Jeff was born in Terre Haute, IN to Manfred and Rosemary (Overton) Dickerson of Seelyville, IN. He is survived by his sole sibling, Paul Randall (Linda E.) Dickerson of Ashland City, TN and nephew R. Alex (Ashley E.) Dickerson of Nashville, TN.
Jeff lived on eight acres of land in the middle of Seelyville, that was part of a 180-acre tract purchased in 1835 by his great-great-grandfather, John Dickerson.
At various times, Jeff worked as a crane operator, loading ships in Galveston, and as a machinist with a lumber operation in Alaska. He also worked on a contract job restoring a railroad switch engine. His interests were wide range, and included genealogy, local history and ecology. While in school, Jeff was given an IQ test, scoring a near genius level.
The family wishes to thank the ICU staff at Union Hospital and The Gibson Center staff for their kindness and care. We are also thankful to our cousin, Jayne Cozart Sullivan, who visited Jeff each day of the two weeks he was in the hospital, and to Wayne Langman, a faithful friend of Jeff’s for a long time, who also visited daily.
Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
