John R. Mason, 77, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away July 25, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1948 in Sullivan, Indiana to Wm Clarence Mason and Violet (Horner) Mason.
He served in the Army & the Air National Guard. He worked at Carters Garage prior to going to and retiring from the Wabash Mine in Kingsburg, IL & was a proud member of the Sullivan Jaycees. He was a member of The Nazarene Church and later the First Christian Churches of Sullivan,
His hobbies included NASCAR, Classic Cars, in his younger days he enjoyed boating, go cart racing & coaching Little League. He also loved trying to make people laugh with his silly jokes or entertaining people with his card tricks,
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Son Johnny Mason, siblings: 5 brothers Don McIntosh, Charlie Mason, Donald Mason, and infant twins, Ora and Ira Mason; 5 sisters, Anna Lea Fisk, Floris Swan, Nina Lichte, Kay Rosebraugh (his twin sister), and Betty Brock
He is survived by his wife Candy Mason of Sullivan, son Jerry “Bo” (Mauricea) Mason of Sullivan, daughters Krystal (Steve) Hauger of Sullivan, Linda (Howard) Cash of Hindsboro, IL, Step Daughter Randi Robinson, Maine, 11 grandchildren,13 great- grandchildren, sister Rebecca Ring, & several nieces, nephews, & cousins along with daughter in law Ediee (Allen) Mason.
There will be a memorial gathering August 9th from 1pm to 3pm at the High Point Community Church, 502 N Court St, Sullivan.
