John E. Zerkle, 74, of Clay City, IN died at 11:55pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in his home.  He was born on October 21, 1950 to Everette Zerkle and Jane Louise (Dunbar) Zerkle in Olney, IL.  John worked for many years in apartment maintenance and will be missed by all he helped.

John is survived by his sons Shawn R. Zerkle (Amber) and Brent E. Zerkle (Angie); brother Bob Zerkle (Beth); grandchildren Baylee, Riley, and Kolton; great-grandchild Maelynn.

John is preceded in death by both of his parents.

John enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the VFW, and attending local sporting events.  He also enjoyed attending community events.  John was described as a selfless person and was always willing to offer his help to anyone who needed it.
