Joseph "Grumpy" Kevin Hewitt

Joseph Kevin Hewitt “Grumpy” 61 years old born December 17, 1959 to Joseph & Beverly Ann
Hewitt in Terre Haute, Indiana. Passed away June 19th, 2021. Joe volunteered as a firefighter
at the Farmersburg Fire Department for 20 years, he worked as both the Hymera and
Farmersburg Town Marshall, prior to working at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility for 22
years; retiring in 2018.
After retiring Joe spent time with his family, planted an orchard, and worked in his garden. Joe
enjoyed camping and hosting his annual Halloween parties, he also enjoyed working on
anything he could get his hands on, oftentimes never putting it back together.
He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Joseph and Flora Hewitt, Maternal
Grandparents Johnny & Zelma Drake, Parents Joseph and Beverly Hewitt. Joe is survived by
Daughters Holly (Ernest “E”) Jones, Heather Hewitt and Granddaughters Sofia & Marisol;
Sisters Tina (Mike) Callahan, and Tammy Hewitt; Nephews Colton (Peggy) Montgomery, Dillion
(Sierra) Montgomery; Great Nephew Liam “William” Montgomery; Nieces Alana and Amara; His
faithful loving companion of 14 years Jayme Hughs and partner in crime his Boston Terrier
Homer. Joe is also survived by various Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Services will be held at Samaritan Affordable Funerals and Cremations in Terre Haute on June
25th, 2021 at 1 to 3 pm. Burial to follow at Westlawn cemetery in Farmersburg.
