June Ann Reed Obituary

June Ann Reed, 78, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully at her residence Tuesday, January 27, 2026.


She was a retired widow of a veteran. She worked mostly in the medical/healthcare field as an EMT and later as a CNA in a nursing home. She also worked as a bartender back in her younger years.


June was born on June 22, 1947 in Casey, Illinois to Homer L. Fox, who died August 5, 1983, and Lola I. Reynolds (Fox), who died October 9, 2000.


She is survived by her oldest grandson who she helped raise, Michael Atterson, and his three sons Gage Atterson, Reese Atterson, and Ashton Atterson; her oldest granddaughter Loriann Tuel (Aaron), and their children Bentley Tuel, Kolton Tuel, and Aubriella “Ella” Tuel; her granddaughter Jessica Atterson (Nicole); granddaughter Abby Atterson; grandson Kyle Atterson (Autumn); adopted grandson Dell Drishell, and his children Tanner Drishell and Brennon Drishell; daughter-in-law Pamela Atterson; son-in-law Edward Cook and James Knoll; sister Teddy Fox; as well as many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her children Kimberly Atterson (Knoll), Jessie “Bud” Atterson, and a son that passed away as an infant; grandson Wyatt Atterson, first husband Larry Atterson, second husband Leon Handcock, third husband Kern Reed, sisters Betty Medsher, Barbara Waller (Bobby), and Reba Peters; as well as aunts, uncles, and grandparents.


She was a member of the American Legion and a member and chaplain of the VFW in West Terre Haute. When she was young, she loved helping and working at the Fox Marathon Gas Station, owned and operated by her parents from 1953-1998, and on the family farm. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and especially a great-grandmother. Her great-grandchildren were her whole world, and her family meant everything to her.


A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 12 pm to 2 pm at Samaritan Funeral Home, located at 2425 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47807. A funeral service will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home. A farewell gathering will be held at the VFW in West Terre Haute located at 608 W National Ave, West Terre Haute, IN 47885.
