Linda Darlene Morris, age 81, passed away surrounded by loved ones in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Linda was born in 1941 in Brazil, Indiana to Gladys “Maxine” (Buck) and Lester Morris. She was the oldest of four children. As a child, Linda loved to climb trees and could be often found in their branches. Linda joined the U.S. Women’s Army Corps in 1959. Linda was able to travel the country and globe, living in North Carolina; Massachusetts; Okinawa, Japan; Virginia, California; and Texas.
Linda continued to travel despite settling down in Indiana in 1993. She enjoyed several trips to California and preferred to travel by train. Linda also visited Nashville, Tennessee and Schaumburg, Illinois. Her most recent trip was in October of 2021 to visit her son in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Linda was able to see beautiful mountains and howl with wolves at a wolf sanctuary.
Linda’s sense of adventure did not stop at travel. Linda completed a degree in art at Richard Bland College. Throughout her life, Linda had many occupations: data entry, nurse, security guard, dispatcher, volunteer firefighter, Search & Rescue, jailer, factory laborer, senior activities director, retail worker, and receptionist. Linda retired in October 2020, at the age of 79.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister (Dorothy), Brother (Jim), and one grandchild (Pagan).
Linda is survived by her brother Tony; five children and ten grandchildren: Laura (David, Kyle, Felicia, Garrett), Daniel, Heather (Morgana), Tristan (Ethan, Darlene, Charlotte), and Melissa. (Elizabeth, Aaron). Linda leaves a legacy of strength and hard work for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Center Point Church at 11:00 am. Lunch to follow.
