Mark Copeland Obituary

Mark D. Copeland departed this planet on July 1, 2019 after completing his mission at the age of 61. His last words were “Beam me up, Scotty! There’s no sign of intelligent life down here.” We believe he had had his fill of the current political environment and the generation known as the “millennials.”

He was a graduate of North Central High School in Farmersburg, Indiana and a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a U.S. Army Disabled Veteran and had retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane where he served as a government employee supporting the U.S. Navy. He was proud to be an American! If that offends you, too bad.

He will be reuniting with his parents, Harry and Doris Copeland and his sister, Sharon Mize. He really missed you and couldn’t wait to see you again.

He is survived by his children Stacy (Chris) Norris of Sandborn, Ronnie (Amanda) Copeland of Odon, and Jesse Copeland of Linton; grandchildren Brennan Memering, Ryan Norris, Tyler Norris, Victor Copeland, and Lilly Copeland; brothers Harry Copeland, Gary Copeland, Mike Copeland, Larry Copeland, and Jeff Copeland.

To his children, he passed on his love of science fiction along with his inappropriate and sarcastic sense of humor. His children are happy to carry on his legacy with enthusiasm and his grandchildren are currently being groomed to carry it on as well.

He lived his life the way he wanted and on his terms. He loved his family and friends, Camel cigarettes, Mountain Dew, and BK Whoppers. We are pretty sure in that order.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 2-4 at the Fellowship Hall of the Sandborn First Christian Church, 118 N. Anderson St., Sandborn, Indiana. His family and friends are all invited, and we promise you will not be subjected to any songs by Sarah McLachlan.

Finally, after his 61-year mission, he has set out to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before!

We will miss you Dad! You truly were one of a kind!
