Michael Raymond Shutt, 60, of Kokomo, peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on September 20, 2024, in Terre Haute, IN. Michael was born on March 5, 1964 in Kokomo, IN to the late Thomas Ray Shutt and the late Mary Jo (née Riley) (Shutt) Wise. Michael grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1982. From an early age, Michael adored the arts. He played the French horn in his school marching band and was a voracious reader. He attended Indianapolis University. He claimed to have read at least one thousand books in his lifetime! However, nothing in a million years would ever top his love for theatre. Starting in the 4th grade he produced the play The Wizard of Oz using kindergarten students as "Munchkins". Michael spent much of his life dedicating his time to the stage. Some of his favorite shows he had acted in included 1776, A Few Good Men, The Music Man, Lost in Yonkers, and Life With Father. Others included well over a dozen stages around Central Indiana between the 1980s and 1990s. Michael enjoyed videography. He was a videographer for KI Productions in Kokomo for a few years before founding his own videography business, Vintage Video. He produced wedding videos and theatrical productions put on by his beloved home theatre, Kokomo Civic Theatre. Apart from these, Michael also enjoyed writing. His favorite writing medium was poetry. He adored the writings of the author F. Scott Fitzgerald, his favorite novel being The Great Gatsby. His favorite writing hangout was the Windmill Grill in Kokomo. Michael also enjoyed spending time with his immediate family traveling to many historical landmarks and beautiful sceneries throughout childhood. When he was about 10 years old, he stood on a limestone seat made from Bedford stone from Bedford, IN at the Washington Monument and announced that he was going to be President of the United States and brother Kenny wanted to know if he could be his Vice President. He then stated the entire Gettysburg Address. He also loved spending time with his Great Uncle Fred & Aunt Letha and his grandparents Raymond and Harriet Riley on their farms; spending many cherished visits with grandparents “Maudy & Paw-Paw" Shutt and Christmas Eve gatherings with family; summer vacations with Grandma & Grandpa Brake at their lake cottage and cherished Christmas day events; as well as many other family adventures. In the last few years, Michael enjoyed doing his usual reading, watching old movies, studying his Bible and becoming closer to his Savior. He was a proud and devout Episcopalian. He loved playing historical games on his PlayStation, and spending time with his son Riley and his close family and friends.
