Micholas A. “Mike” Clarke, Jr., 60, of Coal City passed away Monday June 2, 2025 in his residence. Mike worked for 30+ years as a sawmill operator and most recently worked as a janitor at Cooke Medical in Spencer. He was born May 16, 1965 in Bloomfield, Indiana to Micholas A. and Nancy L. (Florye) Clarke. Mike is survived by his wife, Hannah (Mount) Clarke; daughters, Danielle Coley (Steven), Brittlee Apple (Tyler McKinney), and Makayla Clarke; sons, William “Bud” Clarke, Lucas Alee Clarke, Jesse Roy Clarke, and Joseph Camp (Courtney Bowman); sisters, Tammy Curtis (Rodney) and Vicki Sweet (Rex); brothers, Chuck Clarke and Chuck Harris (Tracy); grandchildren, Jazmine Camp, Carson Coley, Colton coley, Bryson Henderson, Rory Coley, and Charolette McKinney; ex-wife, Starla (Casteel) Poppino (Joseph); several nieces, nephews, and “best buds”. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Saude, Marty Clarke, Johnny Clarke, and Cecil Sturgeon III; grandson, Cohen Coley; father-in-law, Bill Mount and his Uncle Roy. Mike loved to ginseng root and mushroom hunt. He liked to go fishing and scraping also. He loved to be outdoors, spending time with his friends and family and helping animals. Mike would always help people in need, often times putting their needs before his. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Clay City Park on Saturday June 14, 2025 starting at 5:00 pm.
