Ms. Natalie E. Hook, most recently of Westminster Village Terre Haute, passed away at the age of 97 after a brief illness on May 3, 2022.
Natalie was born in Derby, Connecticut to James Cahill and Nellie Starchak. She graduated from High School soon after Pearl Harbor was bombed. During World War II she served as a telephone operator in New York City.
At the age of 21, she married John C. Hook and they were married for 30 years. She followed him and his academic career. They moved to Terre Haute when he accepted a job at Indiana State University. She was a member of the ISU Faculty Wives Club. Natalie enjoyed many years of bowling in the women’s league at Vigo Bowl. She worked for several years at J.C. Penney’s, previously located at Meadows Center. She finished her career later in life at Westminster Village where she worked for 20 years. After retiring, she enjoyed watching TV, especially the Western channel and Gunsmoke. She also enjoyed shopping at Baesler's and lunches out with friends.
Natalie was preceded in death by her two sons, John Paul and Charles Cahill. She leaves behind her extended and loving family: daughter Jeannette with husband John; daughter Mary with granddaughter Nicole and husband Toby; also granddaughter Heather with husband Shawn; great granddaughter Haidyn; great granddaughter Kelsey with husband Tabb and great great grandson, Parker.
Friends are asked to stop by, visit with family and enjoy refreshments on Saturday, May 14 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Candlewood Suites, 721 Wabash Avenue, ground floor conference room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice of Terre Haute.
