Peggy Hunt Akers made "A Classic Finish" as she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on 9/11/25. She was the daughter of Forest and Mary Kiser Hunt and the sister to James (Pat) Hunt and Patsy (Paul) Hunt House.
She was a resident of Prairie Creek, IN. She attended Prairie Creek and Honey Creek High School, later pursuing a degree in Nursing, graduating from Ivy Tech, and working Long Term Care for over 25 years.
Peggy was married to the love of her life, John Akers, Jr., for over 60 years. They were blessed with 3 sons, John (Kim), Jeff (Lisa) and Jim (Avalee). They have been blessed with 7 grandchildren including Colby, Eleni, Hudson, Hayden, Sydney, Amber, and Daniel. Peggy also had 13 great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Jack and Fran Akers, and her great-granddaughter Ainsley Grace.
The Akers family enjoyed time together traveling, camping, sports, Las Vegas and were very involved in fishing. They operated the LTD tournaments and County Boy Tournament Trail. Peggy was the Secretary of Tournaments and wrote magazine articles and results for the fishing tournaments. She even published an article in the Fishing Line magazine titled "The Classic Finish".
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 11, 2025, from 1:00 - 4:00 at Prairie Creek Park.
Peggy and family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Wabash Valley, and the many caretakers Peggy was blessed to have cared for her.
