Penny Quinn Obituary

Penny Jo Quinn, 68, passed away on October 29, 2020 at Union Hospital. Penny was born on Nov. 6, 1951 to Wayne and Lucille Engles of West Terre Haute, IN. Penny is survived by her 5 children and 15 grandchildren.

Penny is remembered by all who met her as a gentle, humble person, always considerate of others. By her children, she is remembered for working hard through difficult times to provide for them. Penny was most recently an employee of Sony DADC, but she was also an experienced bartender and even worked for many years as a dispatcher for the West Terre Haute Police Department.

Penny was preceded in death by her ex-husband Gerry Quinn with whom she still had a loving relationship and 2 children. Her youngest son, Paul Michael Quinn of Marshall, IL, is married to Erin Newburn Quinn. Paul has 4 children, Brylynn , Rylee , Paige, and Cain. Penny’s youngest daughter is Samantha Quinn. Samantha has 4 children, Arrin Johnson, Katherine Heckelsberg, Haylee Hecklesberg, and Matthias Quinn. Penny was also loved by Gerry’s daughter Clancee Quinn and her children Lacey Featherston Thompson, Dayton (DJ) Featherston, and Gerry Gene Jones. Arrin Johnson, daughter of Ikie Johnson, is mother to Penny’s only great-grandchild, Remington Hayes Horsely.

Penny also had 3 children from an earlier marriage to Rex Bunting. Her middle son, Kasey Bunting is father to Kassidy Bunting. Daughter-in-law Simone Wells-Gehrke, was instrumental to Penny’s care in recent years and her son, Chris Gehrke, was Penny’s honorary first grandchild. Penny’s oldest daughter, Kristian, is married to Brian Perisho and has 5 children: Esther, Emma, Ethan, Eli, and Laney. Penny’s oldest son is Kevin Bunting. Kevin and Kathy Whittington are parents to Austin Bunting.

Penny’s brother Chuck Houser and his wife Sharon were unwavering supporters of Penny throughout their lives. Chuck’s children, Tim Houser, Sandy Belleu, Mike Houser, Patty Didier, Patrick Houser, Kelly Houser, Sharon Rogers, and Lisa Ramsey loved Aunt Penny as a sister and friend.

Penny noted many times in life that she loved being part of the Quinn family. She enjoyed many happy moments with the extended family and would be pleased to know she is still in their hearts.

In lieu of a memorial service, Penny’s children will be holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, Nov. 8th. Any who wish to attend may contact one of Penny’s children for details. We look forward to honoring Penny’s life and memories with you in person and in our hearts
