R. Joe Turpen, 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home in Linton, Indiana. He was born on October 31, 1932 in Linton, the son of Bernell and Berniece (Armstrong) Turpen.
After attending Linton High School and Rose Hulman, Joe joined the United States Army where he proudly served in the Korean War. He was owner and operator of several businesses, including Triple T Construction in Linton. In addition to the First Methodist Church, he was a member of both the American Legion and Elks Lodge.
A consummate cowboy at heart, Joe adored John Wayne, woodworking, and skydiving. He will always be remembered for his teasing jokes and unfailing work ethic.
Joe is survived by his loving wife and caretaker, Jane Turpen; children, Tim Turpen (Kathy), Cyndee Teater (Ken), and Casey Niebrugge (Ric); eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; in-laws, mother, Luann Floyd, brother, Jim Floyd (Linda), and several nephews and nieces.
