Ronald Gene Newbury, 62, of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Bluford, IL, died on January 10, 2025.  He was born October 16, 1962 in Mt. Vernon, IL to the late James A. Newbury and Doris E. Newbury. 

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his Aunt, Norma Jean Lane; Uncle, Harlan Lane; brother, Gary Houle; nephew, Derek Houle; niece, Margaret Wheeler; and great-nephew, Journey Houle.

Ron is survived by his brothers Randy Lee Houle of Paris, Illinois, James Kevin Newbury and wife, Debra of Opdyke, Illinois, nieces and nephews, Daphne Jordan and husband, John of Bluford, Illinois, Jennifer Oliver and husband, Robert of Bluford, Illinois, Chandra Ballard, Brandon Houle, Chad Houle of Bluford, Illinois, Cassandra Smith and husband, Brent, Brian Newbury of Opdyke, Illinois, Jamie Houle, Joshua Houle, Zachary Houle, of Terre Haute, Indiana, Ciera Balkenbusch and husband, Craig of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jeremy Houle of Indianapolis, Indiana.  He also had several great nieces and nephews.

Ron attended Bluford Grade School and Webber High School. Following this he resided in Terre Haute, Indiana where he worked as an automobile mechanic and spent nearly 30 years being a student and instructor of ATA Taekwondo.  He achieved his 4th Degree Black Belt and was an Assistant Chief Instructor at Minton’s ATA Black Belt Leadership Academy.

A Visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST at Samaritan Funeral home in Terre Haute, IN.  A funeral service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Garden Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois on Saturday, January 18, 2025 beginning at 11:00 am CST with Gary Davenport officiating.
