Ronald Leon Roberts, Sr. entered this world on May 26, 1943, to Callie and Joe Roberts of Princeton, Indiana.
Ronald was baptized in Princeton, Indiana at a young age. He later became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Terre Haute, where he met the love of his life, Shirley Hutchinson.
Affectionately known as “Ronnie Roo,” he loved his nickname and spending time with his family. Ronnie Roo was known for his barbeques and fish fries. He would have Gilbert Street packed, and they even began to call him “Governor of G-Street.” Ronnie loved having a good ole time cooking and just enjoying the outside air. He would sit outside for hours, just enjoying the weather or cooking, even if he was by himself. He definitely mastered the art of frying fish. He also loved to hunt, even barbequed raccoon, deer, and rabbit. Whatever he caught, he was throwing on that grill. Ronnie was known for his kindness. He would let anybody come get a plate, and everyone loved Ronnie Roo.
Ronnie attended public schools in Princeton, Indiana. He moved to Terre Haute, Indiana and started working right away. He worked at Terre Haute Coke and Carbon Plant, where he retired from. He then decided to go back to work, and started at Gartland Foundry, where he also retired after more than 20 years.
