Obituary

Ruth Mae Joyner was born on September 10, 1939, in Brazil, Indiana to Samuel and Ruth (Beachem) Wickware. She was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Ruth was married to Joseph Eugene Joyner. To them was born six children, Joseph Eugene (Rosanne) Joyner Jr., and Michael Anthony (Barbara) Joyner of Terre Haute, Indiana, Darlena Rose Crawford and Kathryn Inez Joyner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Connie Elizabeth Joyner of Prince George, Virginia, and Samuel Thomas Joyner of Panama City, Florida; siblings, William Wickware, Marvin Wickware, and Barbara Weaver all of Terre Haute, Indiana, Marva Wickware of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rubbie Chapman of Killeen, Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents Samuel and Ruth Wickware, a younger sister Mary Wickware and a younger brother Gary Wickware.

Ruth worked as a food service chef and an assisted living facilitator. She was an incredible chef and a community honoree. She led a fulfilled Christian life for many years, most recently at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth will be remembered as a devoted Christian, a loving wife, a caring mother, and a wonderful friend.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 11:00 to 1:00 at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church located at 2415 8th Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47804. The funeral service will start at 1:00 at the church with a committal service following at Grandview. Online condolences may be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
