Samuel "Greg" Douglas Obituary

Samuel “Greg” Douglas passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday May the 8th 2022 at 5:46 pm. Greg was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing. Greg was born March 14th 1952 in Clay County Indiana to Rolland and Shirley (Chaney) Douglas.

Greg lived a very full life in his 70 years on this planet and traveled the country at will. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School where he made many lifelong friends. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and trapping as well as going mushroom hunting. Greg`s time outdoors brought him happiness and highlighted his free spirit way of life. He enjoyed riding his Harley well into his 60`s and never rode the back seat. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours with family and friends on the EEL river fishing for the BIG catfish, not those little ones.

In Greg`s younger years he worked at Great Dane of Brazil, he went on to retire from Zachry Engineering Corporation as an electrician for 18 plus years.  Greg liked to collect rocks and fossils from the all over the country, and enjoyed telling you where every one of them came from and the story behind it. He loved his little Corgi dogs and cats very much and was a good human to them all. He found peace working in his flower beds and small vegetable garden. Greg had an amazing and colorful sense of humor and a lifetime of stories to go with it. Greg was a member of The American Legion Post 2 and The Eagles Lodge 274 of Brazil Indiana.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents Rolland and Shirley (Chaney) Douglas, his first wife Connie Elwell and his lifelong friend Dale ‘Skippy” Taylor.

Greg is survived by his children: Travis Douglas, Danielle Douglas-Blakley (Russ), Casey Clark (Chuck), Joseph Douglas, and his beloved Corgi Nelle Belle. Brothers: Owen Douglas (Jane) and Randy Douglas.

Grandchildren: Devon Diel, Kaitlynne Diel, Gabriella Clark, Mykala Clark, Maggie Clark, Charles Clark (Chas), Carter Clark, Mylee Douglas. Greg is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and lifelong friends Brad Rollings, Randy Thompson and Darrin White.

Greg also leaves behind a collection of X-wives to be auctioned off the 5th Tuesday of June. A Celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Flowers and cards may be sent to 208 East CR 1200 North Brazil, IN. 47834 or donations can be sent to the Clay County Humane Society.
