Shawn Curtis Walker Obituary

Shawn Curtis Walker (Murray) age 52, passed away at home, in Coal City, IN on April 4, 2025.  Born on July 27, 1972 in Phoenix, AZ.  He was the firstborn child of Melinda Joyce Murray Kurtz and James Bellows.  He is survived by his younger brother, Gregg L. Walker; Aunts – Benita Renee (Murray) Smith, Denise Lewis, Nikki Smith, Darlene Jones; his cousins Shayla Turner, Mariah Abbott, Jacob Turner and Daniel Turner and the family dog, GraceC.

Shawn was a loving, kind man with a fantastic sense of humor, a deep rhythmic laugh and a penetrating gaze.  He could find humor in almost any situation and make everyone around him laugh at the joke.  He had an unerring talent for seeing the truth in situations and people, and he spoke that truth without hesitation as he saw it.  He was a deep thinker and loved discussing theological and spiritual concepts and beliefs.  He dearly loved music, dance, art and artistic expression.  He was also very proud of his Native American heritage. Most importantly, Shawn had a great love and passion for life and family.  His family was immensely important to him. There will never be another one like him.  He was larger than life and this incredibly unique, unforgettable “Firstborn Son” will be forever missed by those who loved him as deeply as he loved them.
