Steven Ray Henderson, Sr.

Steven Ray Henderson, Sr., 72, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on December 10, 2025.  He was born to Russell Henderson and Anna (Dean) Henderson in Terre Haute on December 21, 1952.

Steven spent many years working for Vigo County and the City of Terre Haute.  He loved working with children and was a school bus driver for Vigo County Headstart.  He also loved music; his favorite genre was the oldies, especially the Beatles.  Steven loved sports and all of Indiana’s teams, specifically Indiana University.  He also enjoyed watching wrestling.  Steven was an avid newspaper reader, coffee drinker, and loved summer sausage.  He also enjoyed mushroom hunting. 

His favorite holiday was Christmas and he loved the entire season.  Steven even played Santa for a couple years.  Most of all, Steven loved his family and spending time with them.  He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Steven is preceded in death by both of his parents; daughter Sarah; siblings Sharon, Dennis, and Linda.

Steven is survived by siblings Maryann, Ellen, Donna, Carol, Jimmy; children Steven Henderson, Jr., Michael Henderson, Jamie Henderson, Dawn Henderson, Justin Henderson; grandchildren Cory, Jade, Richard, Audrey, Erica, Mikayla, Elijah, Julian, Jeremiah, and Serenity; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm at Samaritan Funeral Home with a service beginning at 1 pm. Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences or monetary donations to the family may be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
