Steven Eugene Wells, 73, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.  He was born on September 16, 1952 at Mattoon Memorial Hospital.  Steven was the son of Robert and Edna (Snyder) Wells.

Steve worked at Tubelock Metzger Welding and as a Roofer at Drake’s Roofing Company, along with various other jobs.  He played the drums in various bands where he was able to travel to many different states.  Steve loved the Bears and the Illini.  Steve enjoyed drinking beer at the cabin while trying to catch that elusive fish.  He married the love of his life, Sue Brandenburg on November 7, 2007; she survives.  Steve played baseball in his younger years. He enjoyed basketball, baseball, football, pro and college. He said he was probably not going to watch the Super Bowl, but he did listen to it and I told him of the final score, same with the Illini basketball. 

Steve is also survived by Brother Jim (Kay) Wells of Mattoon, Sister Debbie Terrett of Mattoon, Becky (Mitch) White of Jacksonville, Brother Chris (Becky) Wells of Effingham.  Sue's Sons Toby (Toni) Brendenburg of Kansas, Il. and Tony (Courtney) Risley of Madison, Alabama, and Sister-in-law Leota Winnett.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna Wells; brothers Kim and Eric Wells; daughter, Angela Quast; brother-in-law, John Terrett.  Sister-in-law Emma Kemper, Brother-in-law Carl (Bob) Kemper, Brother-in-law Maurice Winnett, Nephew Shawn Winnett, Brother-in-law Fred Irby, Sister-in-law Kendra Irby.
