Theresa Higginbotham McCombs Obituary

Theresa Catherine Higginbotham née McCombs

Oct. 2, 1938---Aug. 17, 2020

Theresa Catherine Higginbotham, 81, passed away at Union Hospital on August 17, 2020. She was born in Terre Haute on October 2, 1938 to Opal McCombs. Her first four years were spent with her grandparents until her mother’s marriage, at which time she met her lifelong friend, Joan Parker.

Theresa married her first husband Harry J. Inks, the father of her children, on July 26, 1956. This marriage ended in divorce forcing her to raise her children on her own. Through her struggles she worked in a laundry and was adamant in keeping her children together, and that she did.

In 1975 she married Don Higginbotham and moved to Michigan. Theresa flourished there. She met many good friends, traveled and became a member of the V.F.W. During her membership she served as treasurer and president.

Although she had but an eighth grade education, she was a wiz with numbers. She was strong willed, spoke her mind and let little get in her way to achieve what she thought was the right thing to do, especially during her children’s younger years.

Theresa is survived by brothers Joe (Sharon) Bryan of Anaheim, California and Will Bryan of Orlando, Florida; daughters Rose Inks and Lenora Kiger of Terre Haute, Ann (John) Fowler of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren Adam (Jenny) Fowler, Danielle Fowler, Glenn (Carly) Pratt, Patrick Pratt (Jennifer Collins) and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Michael, great grandchild Nicholas, son-in-law Richard Kiger and her Yorkie Little Bit.

Theresa chose cremation and requested there be no funeral. She will rest in peace at Woodlawn Cemetery with Michael and Little Bit.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care North and Union Hospital for her care.
