Vickie Lynn Cox, 62, of Staunton gained her wings on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 after a courageous battle with an extended illness. She was born August 19, 1958 in Brazil, Indiana to Luther E. Metz and Beulah J. Brown Metz. Vickie was a 1976 graduate of Van Buren High School. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1127, member of the Eagles #274, and worked as a bartender in the Brazil area for many years. She was a correctional officer at Putnamville Correctional Facility from 2004 until her retirement this year. Vickie loved to go to yardsales, enjoyed playing cards and dice, cooking, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family. She was also known as “Big Mamaw” to many.
Vickie is survived by her husband Robert Cox, daughters Carrie Treash (James) of Brazil and Elvira Aaron (Jesse) of Virginia, and Catrina Treash (Kenny) of Carbon; brothers Dave Metz of Carbon, Tony Metz (Nancy) of Carbon, and Tommy Metz (Nan) of Brazil; grandchildren Bryan Lovett, Brandon Lovett, Riley Treash, Destiny Cox, Dawn Koester, Kennedy Treash, Elizabeth Treash, Rachel Aaron, and David Aaron and one great granddaughter Alaina Lovett; nieces and nephews Corey Metz Burke (Arron), Mike Metz, Jr. (Tami), Shane Metz (Jamie), Billy Metz, and Tina Boyce, Tiffani Pasalich, and Josh Metz (Alisha); as well as many great nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Beulah Metz, brother Mike Metz, Sr., Nephew Johnny Metz, lifetime friend Janet Treash and special friend Lea Moore.
