Vilite Yvonne Petty Obituary

Vilite Yvonne Petty, 71, formerly of Perry, Florida passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. She was born on February 17, 1954, in Perry, Florida to Coy Lee Williams and Corris Leona Driver Williams. Vilite was one of 13 children. She grew up and raised her family in Florida before moving to Sullivan County.  They were members of the Antioch Revival Center for generations.

She enjoyed fishing and gardening.  Vilite was a talented seamstress and a great cook.  Her nieces and nephews would call her “the funny aunt” and they loved spending the summers with her.  Vilite loved to stay busy and was always on the run doing something.  She was always there for her children and grandchildren. Some of her wisest words were “check the gas gauge”.  Vilite was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Vilite is survived by her children Sharon Waggoner, Ashley Snipes (Josh), Amber Lind, and Henry Hathcock; grandchildren Brandon, Alexis, Cameron, Carsyn, Mason, and McKinley; great grandchildren Aiden, Dakota, Delaney, Styles, and Mileena; brothers Ray, Jimmy, Allen, and Tony; sisters Sharon, Dorothy, Carolyn, Annette, and Charlotte, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Petty, and sisters Martha, Pearl, and Janna Ruth.

Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at her church in Florida at a later date.  There will also be a lantern release locally for close friends. Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
