Walter Peter Kozubal, 83, died on Monday, June 23, 2025 in his home. He was born on August 9, 1941 to Walter P. Kozubal Sr. and Anna (Maxim) Kozubal in Hammond, Indiana. Walter served in the United States Navy and worked at the Ford Motor Assembly Plant for many years. In his free time he was always focused on his family. He enjoyed being outdoors doing yardwork, fishing, and camping. Once their children became adults, the couple traveled the world together, visiting six of the seven continents. Italy was their favorite destination, as they loved seeing the Vatican. Walter also enjoyed doing carpentry.
Walter is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou Kozubal; daughters Anne Marie Jalk and Eve Marie Fears (Robert); brother Michael Kozubal (Lynn); daughter-in-law Donna Kozubal; grandchildren Paul Kozubal (Michelle), Julia Fears, Sarah Fears-Carter (Craig); great-grandchildren Aiden Kozubal and Augustine (Auggie) Carter; many nieces and nephews; special cousins George Krizman, Tony Krizman (Cindy), and Paul Kozubal (Diane); special caretaker Lisa White.
Walter is preceded in death by both of his parents; son Paul Edward Kozubal; son-in-law Dan Jalk; brothers John Kozubal and Joseph Kozubal; sister Mary Ann Kozubal.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Walter’s spiritually adopted son, Father Suresh Edward.
Funeral Mass will be led by Father Suresh Edward on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Annunciation Catholic Church located at 19 N Alabama Street, Brazil, Indiana 47834 at 10:00am. Rosary Service will be at 9:30am. Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Annunciation Church parking lot fund.
