William Lodas Obituary

On Tuesday February 2, 2021, William J. Lodas, (Bill), caring husband and father passed away at age 71.

Bill was born August 21, 1949 to Helen Jordan and William Lodas of Westville, Il.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Jordan, his father, William Lodas, of Westville, Il, and his brother Joseph Lodas.  He is survived by his wife Carla Lodas, his children, Carrie Techtow, Kevin Lodas, Desiree Emerick, Ashlyn Lodas, Joseph Lodas, Ryker Lodas, April Hollingsworth (step daughter), his sister, Helen and her husband Butch Hansborough, nephew, Brian, brothers Tony Lodas, Danny Lodas and his wife Rita, nephew, Joseph Lodas, three grandchildren, McKinna Techtow, Jacob Techtow, and Savannah Fugate, a great granddaughter Lillyanna Fugate.

Bill was a graduate of Westville High School, class of 1967.  Bill and other classmates may have been involved in, among other things, an incident in 1967 at the high school when some of the school’s window blinds were modified.

In 1969 Bill entered the U.S. Army, going to Boot Camp at Fort Benning Georgia before being flown Vietnam. While there, Bill earned numerous awards, including the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal with the “V” Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Purple Heart.  The “V” device award is an award for valor and is only given for “participation in acts of heroism involving conflict with an armed enemy”.

Bill was employed at, General Electric Corporation, and the Hyster Company, before retiring from the Ball Corporation in Danville, IL.  Bill enjoyed most things, but especially his extended family and his friends.  Bill always worked hard and enjoyed it.  He had many hobbies including classic cars, carpentry, garage sales with his sister, raising incredible tomatoes, and operating the tractor. 

During this time of COVID-19 no ceremony will be performed.  A family and friends gathering is planned for later.
